All Things New

Chris has a new job.... Well, Chris has landed himself a new job at UT, in the Radio-TV-Film department. He shall be the Public Relations Coordinator for the department, which is ranked, incidentally, among the top five in the country, with the likes of NYU, UCLA, and USC. He'll essentially be in charge of the dept website and will create PR materials (ads, newsletters, etc). He'll also be in charge of planning and overseeing a series of summer film camps for junior high and high school students and planning a film festival called the Hollywood Showcase. The latter will have him traveling to Los Angeles to oversee the screening of films created by UT Austin students at the Screen Actor's Guild Studio in front of a bunch of Hollywood big wigs. There's a lot more to the position of course, but those are the highlights

Jenny has a new baby... He or She should be ariving around the 16th of September. Not much sickness so far. I haven't "tossed my cookies" even once. There have been a few close calls and I have been REALLY tired but so far the first 11 weeks with this one have been MUCH easier than there were with Ellaiden (who has just moved up to a big girl carseat instead of her carrier).
For those of you are trying to do math right now it will be 17 months between the two and yes Chris and I know we are crazy!

Ellaiden has a new tooth...This one is on the top right and it is taking it's time to come through. You can see the whole bottom part of it but not much else. It hasn't been very nice coming in and Little E has had a hard time of it. Her Mimi bought her a "sussie" this is something new I learned from Darby..it means a little gift for no reason. Of course hers was because her tooth was being so mean.

Nap Time

Our new nap routine looks something like this....

I carry little E into her bedroom and put her in her bed.

She looks at me with big watery eyes and acts like I have just spanked her.

This lasts for about 30 seconds after I leave the room.

E sits up and plays with her doll for about 30 minutes sticking her arms and legs through her rails, rolling around, and laughing.

She then stands up and starts chewing on her crib rail while crying.

I go in and lay her down again.

She looks at me with big watery eyes and acts like I have just spanked her.

This usually lasts about 3 minutes.

Ellaiden sticks her bottom in the air and sleeps for an hour to an hour and a half.

"Dada", giggles, "DADA!", more giggles.

I ignore that she is calling for her father and go in and get her and we continue on with our day.

There is probably a better way...

Like Mother Like Daughter

From the time I was a wee thing my dad has constantly told me to put my feet down. I have ALWAYS put my knees up in the chair when I eat. Yes, I realize this is a bit uncouth (especially for a 30 year old) but I just can't help it. I guess it is just the way God made me.

Looks like he made my daughter the same way. We put her in her chair and buckled her in all proper and then we looked over and she was lifting up her tray (apparently, we didn't get it snapped appropriately) and had put her feet on top of it. Ellaiden style!
