First Meal

Ellaiden has started eating cereal. These are pictures of her first meal. She loves it! The last picture is where she was crying because she ate everything in her bowl and I wouln't give her anymore. She learned that pout from her Dad!

Back In Texas

After a terrific trip to Savannah and a couple more days in NC I am braving the hot weather of Texas once again. Of course today is beautiful! Ellaiden did great for my mom while I was with my girlfriends. She ate when she was supposed to and slept all night. We wish THAT pattern had continued one we got back here. Little E has been waking up every 2 to 4 hours since we got back. Sill no tooth. Hopefully soon!

THE BOTTLE UPDATE

After twelve hours of Ellaiden refusing the bottle she finally decided that she would take it. This is after my grandmother came over and said "poor poor thing" (and she was serious) about a thousand times. Ellaiden looked over at her, gave her a big grin and then started sucking. This was the terrible "breastbottle" that leaks and is a real pain to use. The next feeding time she drank some more and then went to sleep. At 1 am she woke up and refused to eat. After an hour of getting her back to sleep she actually stayed that way until 5:30 this morning. I went to her bed and she looked up at me and smiled real big so I picked her up and we went downstairs. She sat in her chair beside papaw and watched the stock reports and drank her old school bottle down to nothing like she used to do before her strike. Since then she has been sucking it down. So, now my 5 month old is drinking out of the same preemie bottle she had when she was born but with about 5 new holes punched in the nipple. Thank you LORD!

Did we go on vacation?????

No blogging the last few days because it has been all we can do to put one foot in front of the other. We aren't completely sure what happened to our "bundle of joy" but let's just say you can leave it at "bundle of" for the past few days. There is a tiny little white spot in the bottom of E's mouth that could be the cause of all of our problems. Tooth, may you PLEASE appear soon! "Baby Lay" named by her cousins Nick and Emily has decided she is done with sleeping. That includes short naps, long naps, and bedtime. On average it has been 45 minutes to an hour to get her to sleep if it happened. At night pretty much the whole vacation she would go to bed at 9 or 9:30 and then wake up at 1:30, 3, 4, 5, and then be up for good at 6:00. Of course there was some variation but not much from night to night. When we got home Saturday night Chris ended up sleeping on the floor beside of her bed so I could get a little sleep. Last night was a little better with a 11:30 and then 4, and 6. This is so different from her previous schedule of 9:30 to 5 ish and then 7 or 8.

Highlights of the past week are rolling from her stomach to her back and then from her back to her stomach. She is much more alert and interested in everything around her. She picks out her favorite toys from a pile and likes to lay oh her stomach and smile at you (when she isn't screaming from lack of sleep that is)!

Hopefully this little tooth will come in and I will get to elevate my little peasant back to her princess status.

Apples Falling

Ellaiden has a new toy. An apple from the mid 70's that my mom has saved of mine for the past 30 years. Fisher Price "Happy Apple" rocks and jingles and that is about all it does and she loves it!

Now to falling. One of the things most parents fear is falling down the steps with their baby. Well, yesterday I did it, inside on the carpeted stairs. From the top step to halfway down. I slid down on my back and bottom and Little E hit her head and her arm on the carpet. After a round of crying she was okay. I am still recuperating.

Here's Ellaiden with her Nana (aka great-grandma).

Something like autumn

Ellaiden, sitting with me and my cousin's daughter, Elizabeth, is wearing her long-sleeves because it barely got out of the sixties today. Felt like autumn had arrived, thanks to Ernesto. Sure beats the 100 degrees days in Austin, not that we're rubbing it in.
