Hatteras and Ocracoke Island

Ellaiden and Chris on the Ferry going to Ocracoke Island for the day. Ellaiden LOVES the wind blowing in her face. Our attempts at a family photo. Ha!

More time in the Hammock

Getting Ready for Vacation and the plane

These are some shots of Ellaiden the day we went to North Carolina. You can tell from the first one she is intent on helping us get ready to leave. She did great on the plane, but was VERY active. I put Chris in charge of her since I would have her on the way home.

New Look

I've given this here blog a new look in anticipation of Søren's arrival in September. Instead of creating a new blog for her, we'll just let the sisters share this web space (like we're hoping they'll someday share a room). One day they may clamor for their own blog (and their own room), but for now they'll be hitched up here.

Jenny, Ellaiden, and I went to North Carolina on Friday, June 15th. We then traveled beachward, to the Outer Banks for a week. After fun times were had by all, I returned family-less on Sunday, June 24th, with Jenny and lil' E staying back to hang out in Gibsonville. I've been a lonley ole' bachelor these past two weeks, pining away for wife and child. (Though a friend from South Carolina did make a surprise five day visit last week, mitigating my loneliness and bringing with him good times, good conversations and a great eye for photography.) Actually, it was quite nice having the house to myself the past fortnight--going to bed when I wanted, waking up when I wanted, doing pretty much whatever I wanted. Meanwhile...

Jenny has had her hands full with an Ellaiden who has begun to explore more adventurously and throw tantrums more regularly (when her would-be adventures are denied). Words that could be used to describe Ellaiden of late: contumacious, headstrong, pertinacious, recalcitrant. Strong-willed is another way of saying it. She probably just longs for the firm disciplined presence of her father. Yeah right, I'm the softy.

So they're set to return tomorrow night and I'm preparing myself for the transition back to husband- and fatherhood and all the attendant responsibilities thereof. Jenny, who is entering (or has already entered) the home-stretch of her pregnancy wherein she's uncomfortable 23 hours out of the day--essentially whenever she's not in her bathtub--is no doubt preparing to drop Ellaiden in my arms and run to the nearest spa for a break from motherhood and all the attendant responsibilities thereof. There will be much rejoicing!

Stay tuned for more pictures...
